[/caption]Lock your car doors because thieves are after your vehicle in Yakima. Police statistics show that car thefts continue to rise with108 cars stolen during March and April. That's up from 77 in January and February combined. Some people around the city hope new leadership in the police department will stop the activity.

"Maybe with the new police chief and city manager it might change all the statistics in the town,” said Ray Jones.

Police say there have been a total of 650 thefts reported in Yakima so far this year.
