Attending a sleep over summer camp is a rite of passage for many Yakima Valley kids. What are some of your summer camp memories?

It's summer camp season, and if your family is like mine, your kids will be attending camp this summer.  All four of my children will have attended Lazy F, a United Methodist Church camp near Ellensburg. It's located in a beautiful spot in Manashtash Canyon, west of the city. They provide a typical summer camp experience, along with a christian atmosphere.

My summer camp experience consists of a couple of sessions at Camp Fife, the Boy Scout camp located at Goose Prarie. It was a lot of fun, but as I recall,  I didn't get to make many new friends because our troop attended as a group, so we mostly just hung out together.

I was also a counselor at YMCA Camp Dudley for a short time in the summer of 1975. I think that the Yakima Y has a plaque  somewhere with the "Worst Counselor Ever" award with my name on it. I was pretty bad at it, but the kids were great.

What are some of your summer camp memories?
