Supplies of many things are running short after Hurricane Irene, including one commodity none of us can live without...blood. Charlie Shamanski with the Red Cross says supplies are critically low because so many blood drives have had to be cancelled in areas hit by the hurricane. And he says the cancellations came at a time when blood supplies were already low.

The Yakima Office of the Red Cross is holding a number of blood drives over the next 2 weeks to help pump up supplies. Call 1-800-redcross or call the Yakima office at 457 1690.
