Yakima firefighters say three people were lucky they had an alert neighbor when their house caught fire early Saturday morning. It happened at about 3:15 Saturday morning at a home in the 13 hundred block of Roosevelt Avenue. The neighbor was awakened by the flames and tires exploding. The neighbor then alerted the three people inside the home and called 911. Firefighters say a car and rear portion of the home was burned. No working smoke detectors were found inside. Investigators say it's likely the fire started in the vehicle and spread to the home. Damage estimated at 40 thousand dollars.
