
Support Event Honors Guadalupe and Her Children in Yakima
On August 9, Yakima Police say Guadalupe Cordova of Yakima was shot to death by her husband Roberto Leyva-Sanchez in a domestic violence incident.
YOU CAN HELP BY BIDDING
Now you have a chance to help Gudalupe's six children during a fundraiser at Single Hill Brewing on North Naches Avenue. It's a gathering and silent auction from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm to help the mother of Guadalupe who has adopted the children and is now in charge of raising them.
HOME EXPANSION NEEDED
The money will be used specifically to help create two new bedrooms for the children. After the fatal shooting of Guadalupe her husband, Roberto Leyva-Sanchez fled and was eventually shot Yakima Police Officers after police forced a vehicle he was riding in to stop in the area of East Walnut Ave & 3rd Street.
THE SUSPECT WAS SHOT AND KILLED
Officers shot and killed Leyva-Sanchez after they say he opened fire on the Officers while still in the vehicle. If you attend the fundraiser you'll have a chance to hear from family members who will hold a moment of silence for victims of domestic violence as well as talk about Guadalupe. You'll also be able to bid on 25 items from 6:15 pm to 8:00 pm.
HAVE A DRAFT BEER AND HELP
Single Hill Brewing has agreed to donate $1 of each draft beer sold from 6:00 pm to close Thursday. A local construction company along with an Architectural firm have agreed to help in the creation of the new space for the kids by donating services.
