7-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shot By Brother in Selah
Selah Police say a 7-year-old boy is being treated at a Seattle hospital after being shot by a younger sibling on Thursday at a Selah home. Authorities were called to a home in the 1100 block of West Goodlander Road at about 6:13 p.m. Officers found a 7-year-old boy who had been shot in the neck. He was taken to Yakima Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital then airlifted to a Seattle hospital where he remains Today. A news release says "officers learned from the victim’s father that a younger sibling managed to retrieve a hand gun from a firearms safe and accidentally shot his brother." Family members say they're hopeful for a full recovery. Selah Police say while this is a tragic event, they are grateful the circumstances were not worse than they are. Selah Police urge people to make sure guns are kept away from children. The incident remains under investigation.
