
$24 Million Airport Grants Announced for Washington State
In a significant boost to air travel infrastructure in Washington State, Senator Patty Murray has announced the distribution of $24 million in grant funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to four airports across the region.
MODERNIZING AIRPORTS FOR YOU INCLUDING UPGRADES IN YAKIMA AND TRI-CITIES
This investment aims to modernize facilities and enhance passenger experience at key airports, including Yakima, Tri-Cities, Spokane, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac). The Yakima Air Terminal is set to receive a $1 million grant, which will be allocated toward modernizing the baggage claim system and upgrading electrical services associated with the system. In conjunction with these improvements, the city recently completed and expansion of the airport's amenities by creating a new vending area and additional seating for travelers.
TRI-CITIES WILL SEE SOME $4 MILLION
Meanwhile, the Tri-Cities Airport will benefit from a $4 million allocation aimed at constructing additional passenger boarding bridges and expanding its baggage area. This development is expected to streamline boarding processes and enhance operational efficiency, catering to the increasing number of travelers in the region.

HERE COME CHANGES TO THE SPOKANE AIRPORT AND SEA TAC
Spokane International Airport will receive a $2 million grant to increase space in its terminal building, allowing for better accommodation of passengers and improved services. In a substantial investment for the state's busiest airport, Sea-Tac will be allocated $17.5 million to reconstruct its south concourse, a project that is expected to significantly bolster the airport's capacity and accessibility.

This federal funding comes at a crucial time, as airports across the country work to recover and adapt to changing travel demands post-pandemic. Senator Murray emphasized the importance of these grants in not only enhancing infrastructure but also in supporting local economies and creating jobs.
