Last Monday two Yakima brothers were run over by a man who police say was high on drugs. Today they are recovering. Ten-year-old Christopher Sanchez is out of the ICU and now in satisfactory condition, according to Harborview Medical Center. Hospital staff said he still has a long way to go but he is improving. He is being treated for broken legs, ribs and a head injury. Christopher and his 11-year-old brother Isreal were struck by the car while they were waiting for the school bus last week. Israel was taken to a Yakima hospital and has been recovering at home from broken ribs and scuff marks to his face and arm. The suspect driver, Benjamin McKenzie, faces charges of vehicular assault. Police say he was high on methamphetamine at the time. His bail is set at half a million dollars.
