Two big fires that kept firefighters busy last week are now nearly fully contained. Mop up operations are underway in the Range 12 Fire and the Halfway fire both of which required hundreds of firefighters to douse. The largest fire, the Range 12 fire burned 176,600 acres about 12 miles North of Sunnyside and firefighters spent the weekend looking for hot spots while patrolling the 117-mile perimeter. The Halfway fire also kept firefighters busy over the weekend but it's now 90 percent contained at 75 acres.
Firefighters are now battling a new fire about 1900 acres near the Coliville Indian Reservation. The cause of all the fires remains under investigation Today.
