Yakima Valley Community College’s 2012-2013 Faculty Lecture Series continues on May 1 with Alicia Bickley presenting " When Opportunity Knocks: YVCC Students and The Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival."

If you've ever wondered what happens to students who work on YVCC theatre productions, here's an oportunity to find out. Twice or sometimes three times each year they have their work evaluated by volunteer representatives from The Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival (KC/ACTF).  This process of evaluation is known as "responding."  The response process then leads to qualified students being nominated to represent YVCC at the KC/ACTF Regional Festival.  During her presentation, Bickley will look at the history of KC/ACTF, the response process, what happens at the festival, and how the festival benefits students. In addition, the evening will include viewing a selection of student audition pieces from festivals past.

Alicia Bickley, YVCC Director of Drama , will host the presentation on May 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Parker room on the YVCC Yakima campus.
