YVCC Hosts Information Sessions for Real Hope Act Students
Yakima Valley Community College will host Real Hope Act Information Sessions on May 29. The sessions begin at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in YVCC’s Deccio Higher Education Center.
Real Hope Act (HB1079) students may be eligible to receive financial aid to help pay for college. Eligible students are those who have graduated, are graduating from high school, or have earned a GED; have lived in Washington for three years prior to and while earning a diploma; and who have signed a promise to file an application to become a permanent resident. Eligible students can apply for aid through the Washington State Need Grant by completing a WASFA Application. In this session YVCC will provide general information about the WASFA and will also assist students in completing the application.
For help with the completion of the WASFA, applicants should bring the following documents:
• A 2013 tax return, including the applicant’s parents unless the applicant is over 26 years of age, married or has children
• Oregon W2 forms (if applicable)
