Ok, you’ve put it off for a month now and it was a New Year’s resolution. You planned to go look for a new job but you better look your best when you do ladies because you will be judged on looks more than the men.

Researchers from Scotland asked study participants to review the Facebook profiles of certain individuals and judge each as a potential candidate for employment. While looking at the profiles, participants had their eye movements monitored. (that’s high tech and difficult to fake) The results showed that the eyes of participants lingered longer on the photos of female candidates, but that when they looked at the male profiles they spent more time reading content. Is that kinda like the job hunting equivalent of “I just but the magazine for the articles?”

The results were the same whether the observing participants were male or female. Study leader Dr. Graham Scott says the findings could have significant consequences for people looking for jobs, and noted that "having a strong social media profile could be the difference between getting a job and not even being invited for an interview."
