Gator coogirl

I love my little cowgirl. At age 7, Kater the “Gator” is a long legged colt herself and if she grows up like her mom she won’t have weight issues to worry about for good health.  But for good “MENTAL” health, ALL parents need to watch what they say to their kids about weight.

A new study finds when parents remark on their daughter's weight when she's a child, it can leave her scarred for life. Researchers asked 501 women between the ages of 20 and 35 about their body image, and how often their parents made remarks about their figures.

They discovered participants with a healthy body mass index (BMI) were 27 percent less likely to remember their parent's comments than women who were regarded as overweight.

Doctors running the study say it's better for parents not to comment on their daughter's weight at all.  They also say realizing you are overweight is in itself likely to be stressful and makes making healthy choices in your lifestyle all the more difficult. (Daily Mail)
