Sundome Hosts 2,000 Students for Youth Involvement Program
Two thousand students from the region's 19 school districts are gathering at the Yakima Sundome this morning for a event called the Youth Community Connections Assembly. The one hour event is designed to get kids to think about topics such as citizenship, civic engagement, and youth involvement in local and global volunteer efforts. Students from Cle Elum to Zillah are attending the event.
The students will hear from guest speaker Molly Burke, a teen from Oakville, Ontario, who will talk to the kids about a host of issues including her involvement in "Free The Children", an international charity and educational organization based in Canada that helps kids around the world.
