I love the lists that always come in December. Most loved this, most watched that, top 10 news stories, most influential people. Even Santa has a list.  All of these lists are great, but they all fall short. Let's face it, most of us aren't international economists, terrorists, or even Hollywood opportunists. As regular Joes and Janes, we possess only a limited amount of influence in our humble little worlds, so while lists about those other kinds of people are of interest, they aren't really relevant.

One list, however, tops them all because ALL of us had a hand in making it.

Facebook allows us regular users to set the trends and now Facebook is talking about the top trends -- our trends -- of 2014.

The social network has revealed its most posted subjects of the year in both the U.S. and around the world. The topics overlap, but the order is different. In America we posted most  about the health bomb Ebola,  followed up by everyone’s favorite cold shower: the ice bucket challenge.

The World Cup is growing here but it’s not top dog yet! The world’s version of football came in sixthin America and the Seahawks dominating the Super Bowl was No. 4.
