Old Glory is a hot seller and it just might be “The Donald” fanning the flames of flags sales.  A report published earlier this year by the Washington Post notes that typically, election years do not give the flag industry a significant boost in sales, but this year flag sellers say sales are up by as much as 15 percent.

A report in TIME Magazine notes that American flag sales tend to be seasonal with much stronger sales during the first half of every year, as people buy new flags to outfit their homes for springtime, Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.   A national crisis has been known to drive up flag sales but what’s causing the increase in flag sales now?

A Gallup poll shows that Republicans are much more likely to say they are "extremely proud" to be flag waving Americans and Donald Trump has particularly good support among older Republicans.   A recent Military Times survey indicates that members of the armed services-- who are more likely to buy and fly flags-- support Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton by a wide margin as well.

Conclusion - there's no direct data indicating that Trump supporters have been buying more flags –BUT-  it seems there's a lot of overlap among the people who want Trump to be president and  the people who are most likely to buy flags. (Time)
