The Humane Society of Central Washington is still in the running for the ASPCA  Community Engagement Challenge, the nationwide contest with a $25,000 first place award.  Today the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals annnounced the top three contenders: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Banghor,Maine and Yakima.  Yakima actually finished second in the nationwide voting which saw thousands of local residents vote online.   Alan Landvoy, Central Washington Humane Society Director says "If we win the money, we will use the funds to pay for spay and neuter programs in Central Washington."   There are  several criteria which will determine the winner which will be announced on November 30th.
