In two weeks I start a diabetes prevention program at Memorial.  The components are education, monitoring diet and in particular fat grams plus 30 minutes of exercise five days a week.  One of the grads gave us a pep talk and told us how he lost almost 100 pounds since February simply by watching his food and walking. Not running, not jogging, not lifting weights but merely by walking – exercise at its simplest.

Time is reporting the benefits of exercise aside from weight loss, and a new study says one of those benefits is improved feelings about your body.

Researchers assessed the body weight, shape and body image of 16 males and 18 females both before and after bouts of exercise and bouts of reading. They found that while conditions, body weight and shape did not change, various aspects of body image improved after exercise compared to before.

No changes were found after reading.  Conclusion - if you're feeling bad about yourself it's time to get your butt to the gym. (Time)
