My nightly routine with daughter Kate (the Gator) includes a piggyback ride with her favorite blanket as her “saddle” around the house and to her bedroom and then I read a couple of chapters from the book of her choice or I make up a story (with a positive life lesson snuck in for good measure) starring her and some of her favorite stuffed animals. There is no doubt I enjoy it as much as she does.

When she was younger we hit all the classic fairy tales and that is a tradition that may be older than the Bible!

Researchers in Europe say it’s possible some of the modern world’s best-known fairy tales pre-date the Bible and Greek myths! The findings published in the journal Royal Society Open Science says stories like Beauty and the Beast, Rumplestiltskin and Jack and the Beanstalk have “probably been around since before the existence of many modern European languages,” including English, German, Russian and French.

Discovery News says these stories are likely four-to-six-thousand years old.

They are still great but so too is Junie B. Jones and the made up adventures of Gator and her stuffed
