Ah, Saturday. It’s the weekend and a day to sleep in!  But you’ll have a better chance for better sleep IF you keep your bedroom a little more organized.A new study reveals that having a messy bedroom can actually disrupt sleep, increase stress and even aggravate mental illness. That explains a lot about my house ...

Researchers looked at a bunch of people including many who were considered at risk for hoarding disorder. Study participants were questioned about their sleep habits, and the data revealed those at risk for hoarding disorder reported more problems with their sleep.

These things aren’t always a direct-line connection, so if you have trouble sleeping  it doesn’t mean we can expect to see you on a future episode of "Hoarders." But  psychologists working the study say hoarders typically have problems with decision making and executive function and not getting a good night’s sleep is a well known contributor to poor thought processes and decision making.

Now this next part is science talk, check it out. “So if hoarders have cluttered or unusable bedrooms, and less comfortable, functional beds, any existing risk for cognitive dysfunction, depression and stress may increase as sleep quality worsens."  Which simply means whatever is on your mind and bugging you can be made worse without a good night’s sleep.
