Sidney Rice Cleared to Play… Should the Seahawks Bring Him Back? [POLL]
Wide Receiver Sidney Rice has been medically cleared to resume playing after suffering a knee injury last season. Should the Seahawks bring him back?
Rice became free agent after he became a Seahawks' salary cap casualty only weeks after Seattle won Super Bowl XLVII. He suffered a knee injury in week eight against St. Louis and was out for the rest of the season. Up until that time, Rice was playing well, with 15 receptions for 231 yards and three touchdowns.
The knock on Rice is that he never lived up to the five year, $41 million free agent deal he signed with Seattle in 2011, mostly due to injuries. His biggest year came in 2012, when he played in all 16 games and tallied a team-leading 50 catches for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.
Releasing Rice in February saved the Seahawks $7.3 million in salary-cap space for 2014. They could try to bring him back at a lower price, and may be so inclined after losing receiver Golden Tate to the Detroit Lions in free agency. Wideout is a definite need this off-season for Seattle.
