Builders, electricians, plumbers and others will benefit from a new service in Yakima County. This week the Yakima County Commissioners approved the use of new software that provides online access to permits saving a lot of trips to the Yakima County Courthouse. In fact county officials say the online permitting process will save an estimated 1000 trips to the courthouse every year.

A news release says "by the end of August residential plumbing, mechanical, re-roof, and accessory structure permit applications will be available online through the Yakima County Accela ePermit program.
Customers can apply for core permits, submit construction plans, pay fees, and check project status completely online. Later phases of the software roll-out will include additional permit services integrated with the Yakima Health District for septic, well, and sewage as well as other permit processes."
