Man Dies After Yakima Valley Highway Motorcycle Crash Wednesday

A 49-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash on Yakima Valley Highway at East Railroad Avenue on Wednesday.

THE CRASH WAS REPORTED AT ABOUT 3:30 WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

When they arrived they found a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle in the middle of Yakima Valley Highway.

THE RIDER DIED AT THE SCENE OF THE CRASH

The rider, identified as 49-year-old Frank M. Ebenal, according to a news release was injured and "suffered extensive trauma from the crash" and died at the scene. Deputies say Ebenal failed to negotiate a corner while riding westbound on the Yakima Valley Highway.

DESPITE WEARING A HELMET...HE DIED

Deputies say Ebenal lost control of the motorcycle in a patch of gravel. He was thrown from the motorcycle and died. Deputies say he was wearing a DOT approved helmet.
The collision is still under investigation.
