It's my favorite time of the sports year. The Seahawks are back! Get ready for this, one of my esteemed colleagues made his Super Bowl XLIX prediction already!

I'm a huge Seattle Seahawks fan. This dates back to 1975 when they announced that the team would be named the Seahawks. I bought a pennant for the team at the 1975 Central Washington State Fair (Like the one in the photo) and had it displayed proudly in my college dorm room. I took some flack about that from some of my friends. They thought that it was dumb that I would be a fan of a team that wouldn't even play for another year.

I'm not one of the 12s that stands on the rooftop shouting "SEA-HAWKS" at every opportunity, but I study the team daily and am probably a little more knowledgeable than most fans. So, it cracks me up a bit when I hear Seattle fans predict an undefeated season and repeat Super Bowl berth. Only when one of my co-workers makes a prediction, I listen.

That person is Lance Tormey.

Lance will tell you that beyond skiing, he knows very little about sports. I think that he knows a lot more than he lets on. This is however the same Lance Tormey that walked out on a Seattle Mariners game in the Kingdome back in the early 1990s because he couldn't figure out how to read the scoreboard.

Yes, that Lance.

He did come up with a Super Bowl prediction that actually sound plausible.

The Seattle Seahawks and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Why not? The Seahawks look to be even better that they were last year, and the Bengals were an AFC playoff team. It could happen.

And if it does, Lance will be the one picking my Powerball numbers in the future.
