With the Fourth of July closing fast do we even need to share this? Yes. Every year, every time ... just in case.Fireworks are as potentially dangerous as they are spectacular. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that last year more than 10,000 people were injured in fireworks-related incidents, and a dozen died.

Too often those who are seriously hurt or killed are bystanders who had nothing to do with setting off fireworks displays.

The CPSC says children under the age of 15 had the highest rate of injury of any age group, accounting for 40 percent of patients. Also, those harmless family favorites -- the innocuous little sparklers -- can really cause some damage, as they burn at around 2,000 degrees!
