Yakima County Corner Jack Hawkins has determined that a woman whose body was pulled from an irrigation canal yesterday drowned.  Yakima Police Captain Rod Light said "There was no evidence of foul play."  The woman has been identified as 62 year old Valarie LynnWinnier of Yakima.  Her body was caught by a grade in the canal in front of the Harmon Center off of 65th and Summitview Avenue in Yakima.   She lived nearby and apparently fell in the canal near her home.   Light says the woman was known to law enforcment.  She was last seen about 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.  Winnier was also known to employees at Wrays IGA in the Chalet Mall.  An employee told KIT News that she was known for loitering in the Chalet Mall area.
