Central Washington University has announced that Dennis Francois (Fran-swah) will become the school new athletic director. He is currently the associate athletic director for external affairs in the Athletics Department at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Francois was selected from an initial list of 86 candidates. During his visit to Ellensburg, he says he was impressed by the university and the community’s small-town fee. Francois says “Once that pride is in our student athletes about being at Central Washington University then other people are going to see that and then that feeling starts spreading to everyone else.”

Francois will assume his new position at CWU on June 17. He will succeed Jack Bishop, who has served as CWU’s athletic director since 2000, and is retiring in June.
