True confessions. My wife has feet like a couple of ice cubes! They are ALWAYS cold and not Washington cold, but North Dakota cold!  But instead of being annoyed at her efforts to warm them up at my expense, I should be sympathetic to the health threat they represent to her.A new study reveals that having chilly feet increases your  risk of catching viruses. (Not to mention catching an elbow!)

Researchers say most people carry the germs that cause viruses in their nose already without it causing symptoms, however once the temperature of their feet drops, it leads the temperature of the rest of the body to drop, including the nose. You can sniff out where this is headed.

A cold nose might be healthy on the face of the family pooch, but on your spouse it turns up the chances of the germs in the nose causing a full-blown cold.

Chilling the feet causes the blood vessels in the nose to constrict ... blood flow to the nose is reduced. That’s a problem because the white cells that fight infections are found in the blood, so with less blood to the nose, fewer white cells are available to fight the virus.

So the solution for your nose is on your feet, or should be. Toasty
