A beautiful late spring day was shattered by the roar of a cannon and the trumpets call to battle! 

Could only be Fulbright Park and Union Gap’s Old Town Days fantastic Civil War battle  reenactment. The military maneuvers featured artillery, cavalry, infantry, scouts, musicians and enough smoke and gunfire to please the most jaded Clint Eastwood fan.

There are two more performances tomorrow at 11:30 and 2:30 on the grassy fields just south of the city and if you want to see a page of history explode to life I encourage you to attend.  Parking and admission are free and there is food and beverages nearby to help wash the dusty taste of battle from your lips.

Bring a lawn chair or get their early for a bleacher seat.  A little sunscreen isn’t a bad idea either.   As a guy named Mike in the bleachers, who used to be involved in similar demonstrations in southern California  told me, “watch, you’ll see experienced reen
