• Chipotle has endorsed ballot measures in Colorado and Oregon that would require labeling for genetically modified food.

The Denver-based chain said this week in a statement that consumers want to know whether the food they're eating has been genetically modified.

  • The 2014 fire season in the northwest may finally be coming to an end.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced today that the fire danger rating and burning restrictions have been lowered in northeast Washington on DNR-protected lands. Fire danger is reduced by recent rainfall and moderating temperatures.

DNR is responsible for preventing and fighting wildfires on 13 million acres of private, state and tribal-owned forestlands. DNR is the state’s largest on-call fire department, with more than 1,000 employees trained and available to be dispatched to fires as needed.
