Earlier this year, the city of Yakima created a Transportation Benefit Area and talked about increasing city car tab fees by $20.

The increase would fund a long list of city projects including a $10 million face-lift of North First Street, and sidewalk and road projects around the city.

The car tab fee was never enacted, but it's included in the proposed budget for 2018, which is expected to be adopted in December. Between now and next month the city is holding a series of public hearings on the budget and the next one is set for 6 p.m Tuesday at Yakima City Hall, 129 N. Second St.
