Boulder Cave Closed Until April

The popular hiking area Boulder Cave is now closed until next spring as a major remodel of the area is underway.

But there is also a major cleanup as well says Michelle King with the Naches Ranger District. She says crews are cleaning a massive amount of graffiti that is scribbled everywhere from rocks to interpretive signs.

We hope that by upgrading the facilities, the benches and picnic areas we hope that will help it stay clean after people see how much work we’ve put into it and that it’s a really nice place.

All the remodeling work must happen this summer because of environmental concerns about fish habitat and bats that live in boulder cave.

The cave on Chinook Pass is expected to be open in April of next year.
