Arrest Made in Gang Shooting in Yakima

Yakima Police have already made an arrrest in connection with Wednesday’s gang related shooting in Yakima.  Police say it rarely happens that an arrest is made so quickly in gang shootings.  A 25 year old man was shot in the legs and abdomen as he was walking along Pierce Street by someone in a passing vehicle. Early this morning Yakima Police officers spotted the suspect vehicle and after a short vehicle and foot chase the 23 year old suspect was arrested and taken into custody at 3rd and Valley Mall Boulevard  The victim is recovering at a Yakima Hospital.  The suspect is in the Yakima County Jail and is awaiting assault charges.   Yakima Police say there’s little doubt this was a gang related shooting.
