Wow, I just got off the phone with my Fabulous Family Physician Dr. Harvey and my latest report is a little sobering - literally.  No more nightcaps for the Morning Guy!  I am barely a social drinker but now I’m not even that!  Which means you won’t catch me with this next clue!

Researchers from Austria’s Innsbruck University gave 953 people a list of various foods and drinks and had them rate them on a scale of one to six.  So far, so what, right ?

Well, then they had all of them take a personality assessment that specifically measured what you would call  their “dark traits” – things like Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism, everyday sadism and trait aggression.

Now we’re getting somewhere.

The research showed that people who enjoyed bitter food and drinks –like say a Gin & Tonic- “consistently” had “heightened sadistic proclivities.”

What???

Hold on conclusion jumper.  The scientists say there’s been no direct reason identified to show why there’s a correlation between the two things. But findings that read “consistent” and “heightened sadistic proclivities” have to make you wonder!  Don’t they?

Think about your own taste in food and drink.  If runs towards the bitter, um…well, no need to get back to me! (Men’s Health)
