Yakima Valley Growers and Farmers are happy about the snow...They've have been patiently waiting for a significant amount of precipitation this winter. Many were talking about a possible spring drought, so they are actually happy to see the snow. They say this week's storm gets rid of most of their fears. The storm will moisten the ground in the valley for now and in the spring the melted snow from mountains will provide for more irrigation waters. John Long, owner of John Long Farms.

"Usually in December we get an inch or so and I don't think we had any in December of this year, or maybe none in November. So this is kind of nice to have, this moisture. It doesn't hurt for it to be late,"

Long says the melted snow from this storm will help his asparagus crop stay healthy during the spring.
