If you have a problem with flies in your home or business or even your cookout and are frustrated you might want to try something some people swear by. Water and pennies in a bag.

IT'S A TRICK THAT PEOPLE IN THE SOUTH SWEAR BY

The bacteria-carrying pests are persistent and seem to find ways into any door or window. So how to keep them out or away from your weekend BBQ? Zip-top bags filled with water and several pennies are hanging over doorways or areas where flies aren't welcome in many restaurants, porches and doorways in the South to repel flies. So while it works in the South it may also work in the Pacific Northwest.

SO GO AHEAD GRAB THAT PLASTIC BAG AND FILL IT WITH WATER AND PENNIES

It's simple just fill a Zip-top bag about a quarter full with water and drop two or three pennies or pieces of aluminum foil in the bag. Seal the bag and use Duck tape to hang the bag above doors or in other areas where you don't want to see flies.

IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH A FLIES EYES

Apparently it has everything to do with the way a fly's eyes work. The eyes on a fly are big and made up of a bunch of individual lenses to react to changes in light. That means when light hits the pennies or foil it confuses the flies and they fly away.

SO YOU NEED TO SEE IF IT WORKS AT YOUR HOME OR BBQ

Okay. Some people swear by it other say it's a myth. Some people are even suggesting you also try hanging Irish Spring soap in a bag also to repel flies.
The water and pennies in a bag is working at the Tormey home. You need to try it!
