Teachers Unions are being critical of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling Wednesday union fees ruling saying the justices listened to wealthy business and big donors over the working class. Steve Mckenna is the President of the Yakima Education Association who says he's not surprised at the ruling. Mckenna says the union works to make sure people get the raises and benefits they deserve. "This will impact the unions in doing this kind of work there's no doubt."
The court on Wednesday ruled workers can't be forced to pay union fees that represent them in collective bargaining. Mckenna says "what you'll now is an erosion of workers rights overall."
Mckenna says about 980 teachers belong to the Yakima Education Association.
