Yakima Police say a local gang member who shot another man at Berglund Lake and then stole his vehicle was shot Wednesday by officers in Medford Oregon following a high speed chase.

THE SUSPECT IS WAS SHOT AFTER A HIGH SPEED CHASE

25-year-old Aurelio Escobar was found in a stolen vehicle on Wednesday morning and a chase started on I-5 that ended in the shooting by authorities in Medford Oregon. Escobar was taken to a hospital. No officers were injured.

YAKIMA POLICE CONTINUE THE SEARCH FOR A BODY

As police in Oregon deal with Escobar Yakima Police continue a search at Yakima's Berglund Lake for the body of his girlfriend that they believe may have been dumped in the lake after she was killed. Police found Escobar's car on Monday after he stole the man's car at the lake. In the backseat police found a lot of blood and clothing that police say belonged to the suspects girlfriend. The woman's family in Sunnyside told police she's missing. A missing person's report has been filed with Sunnyside Police.

THE SUSPECT WAS ON A CARJACKING CRIME SPREE

After the suspect stole the vehicle in Yakima police say he want on a carjacking crime spree through the valley and into Goldendale where he stole another vehicle. He eventually made his way to the Portland Oregon area where he reportedly carjacked other people and was involved the high speed chase in a stolen vehicle along I-5 in Portland before being shot.
Escobar was reportedly hit in the head, chest and arm and is now being treated in an Oregon Hospital.
Police in both state's continue the investigation Today.
