Have you ever thought about becoming a Yakima School Board member? The board is looking to fill a seat after longtime board member Walt Ranta turned in his resignation on Friday. It becomes effective at the end of the month. Ranta has served for the last 10 years and says there's no specific reason why he resigned other than it was the right time. District officials say they're taking applications that can be found at the District’s main offices, 104 N. Fourth Ave. Application deadline is Jan. 8. The board is hoping to fill the vacany within the next month.
