Yakima Public Schools Going Back to Remote Learning Next Week

As confirmed by Wilson Middle School, the Yakima School District is going back to online learning for all children in the Yakima School District for a limited time.

Today and tomorrow three elementary schools have gone back to remote learning. Once this happened I had a feeling it may happen for the rest of the schools, too. All elementary, middle and high schools in the Yakima Valley will implement this starting Tuesday, the 18th through Friday the 21st.

Monday is already a holiday so no school in service for January 17th.

January 24th was slated to be a day off for snow make-up day but with online learning, in place, January 24th will also be a school day with online learning.

No word, yet, on if it's only the week or if remote learning will continue after that. We will update as more information comes through from the Yakima School District.

To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
