Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic is a proponent of the death penalty in Washington State. And he's not in favor of a move in Olympia to abolish the penalty and replace it with life in prison with no parole. Brusic tells KIT News. "I believe that the Governor should not have placed moratorium on the death penalty and it's application. I think it's the law and it's constitutionally based."
And while it's an expensive option for many counties in the state Brusic says it should be an option for prosecutors. House bill 1739 is now being debated by lawmakers. On Wednesday family members of murder victims testified in Olympia in favor of the bill saying the long costly process of the death penalty only continues their pain of loss.
