Yakima Police are searching for a suspect who they say broke into a home and confronted the resident Friday morning in west Yakima.

Lt. Chad Stevens says officers were called to the home in the 300 block of Viewmont Drive at about 2:00 a.m. Friday. He says the resident told police she was confronted by the suspect inside her home and when he was distracted she ran for her front door and made it outside before she was grabbed by the suspect.

At that time she began screaming for help and that's when a neighbor with a gun ran to her help. The suspect then fled the home. Police searched the area and were unable to find the suspect. Lt. Stevens says the woman did not know the man.
The investigation continues as police search for the suspect.
