Yakima Police are searching for a suspect after a 25-year-old man was shot at a Yakima apartment in the 1700 block of Summitview Avenue last Thursday.

THE VICTIM CONTINUES TO RECOVER AT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER

The victim, who hasn’t been identified continues to recover from gunshot wounds at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Police and prosecutors have issued a felony arrest warrant for 34-year-old Manuel Chico Solis of Union Gap charging him with assault, burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm. Police aren't saying what the motive was in the shooting but they don't believe the shooting was related to local gangs.

POLICE SAY THE SUSPECT POINTED A GUN AT A 4-YEAR-OLD CHILD

Detectives say Solis forced his way into the apartment last Thursday. Once inside authorities say Solis pointed a firearm at multiple victims inside the apartment including a 4-year-old boy. They say he then shot the victim several times. The victim was able return fire with his own gun but Police was injured. He fled the area in an unknown vehicle. Police are searching for him while working with other police agencies. They say Solis has local ties to Yakima, Wapato, and Toppenish as well as contacts in the Bakersfield, California area. Police are hoping for tips that could lead to an arrest.
