Yakima Police Arrest Two In Gang Assault

Yakima Police say they now have two people in custody in connection with last Wednesday's shooting in the 800 block of North 2nd Street. A 16-year-old male was arrested at a residence in Moxee and was booked into the Yakima County Juvenile Detention Facility. Last week authorities arrested an 18-year-old man who made an appearance in Yakima County Superior Court after being charged with 1st degree assault. The victim in Wednesday’s shooting, 21-year-old Aaron Prieto, remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Yakima Police detectives continue to investigate the shooting. The suspect arrested Friday also faces 1st degree assault charges. He's expected to be in court Monday afternoon. Police say they believe all involved including the victim are members of local criminal gangs.
