Yakima Driver Alert Work on North 1st Street Thursday

Making our city look beautiful is the job city crews. They're not only charged with fixing city streets and signals but also making the city welcoming. As a result a section of North 1^st Street will be one lane each direction, Thursday, July 21^st, for a beautification project.

The flower beds will look good for visitors entering the city

City crews will be working in flower beds along North 1^st Street between the north end of the I-82 interchange to I Street. A city press release says traffic restrictions will be in place during scheduled project work hours of 6:00 am to 10:00 am. Because of heavy traffic volume, drivers can expect delays in the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Be careful anytime you drive around work zones

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
