Yakima Firefighters Helps Family Escapes House Fire

Yakima Fire Department officials say a family was lucky to escape the flames of a fire Saturday at a home on East Walnut Street. First crews on the scene found a small wood frame duplex with fire showing on the outside of the building. Firefighters rescued the family and quickly put out the fire.

A Yakima Fire Department news release says “a young mother and her three children were removed by firefighters. This story could have had a more tragic ending for there was no smoke detector in the residence.”

Fire officials say the cause is suspicious and is under investigation.
