Yakima County Corrections officers have agreed to delay a 5 percent 2011 pay raise until the end of the year to help save the County nearly a half million dollars.

The move not only saves money but is also saves jobs says Ed Cambell the Director of the County Department of Corrections. He says had the corrections officers voted for the raise he would have had to lay off as many as 20 more officers on top of the 29 officers laid off earlier this year. The County is looking at a variety of ways to fill a 9.3 million dollar hole in the County Department of Corrections.
