The Yakima City Council on Tuesday instead of repealing the cruising ordinance voted to increase the number of days people are allowed to cruise city streets. The council voted 4-3 to allow cruising every Saturday during the months of June, July, August and September. But that new policy starts on July 19 so until then cruising is only allowed on the second and third Saturday's in June.
The changes to the cruising ordinance must be approved at the June 16 meeting and the changes allowing expanded cruise dates won't start until July 19.
Yakima City Council members Jason White, Patricia Byers, Brad Hill and Holly Cousens all voted in favor of the change. Eliana Macias, Kay Funk and Soneya Lund voted no.
