The Yakima City Council voted Tuesday to discuss the E verify system. The council will debate the use of the system to verify that workers hired by city contractors are legally able to work in the country. The council could vote to implement the system at it's next meeting. Meanwhile the council Tuesday also voted to try and keep the Yakima Bears from moving to Vancouver by voting to form a public facilities district with Selah and Union Gap. The plan would have all three cities banning together to build the bears a new stadium. The funding would come from an increase in the sales tax that would have to be approved by voters.
