The Yakima City Council tonight will be talking about a sport that's hugely popular in the Yakima Valley. Yes! it's soccer. Tonight, the council is expected to vote in favor of a resolution that gives the council's go ahead to seek a 5 hundred thousand in state grant funding to pay for a regional soccer complex on the old mill site along i 82. Yakima Interim City Manager Michael Morales says.

The proposed complex would be built on 52 acres of the mill site and would be used year round not only for soccer but other events as well. The city is now preparing paperwork to apply for the grant money that if received wouldn't be available until next year.
